What We Do

Over the years IAMovement has refined its primary social and environmental work and services into a few areas.

Vetiver Grass Education and Empowerment

We promote vetiver grass and the Vetiver System (VS) as a green and cost-effective solution for soil stabilization and erosion control, empowering communities with knowledge and practical skills to improve land management, build resilience, and create sustainable livelihoods in Caribbean communities and landscapes.

Sustainable Handicrafts Development

We support the development of sustainable handicrafts making use of vetiver grass, helping them create products which are completely natural and carbon-neutral, to generate income while also promoting this unique plant species which can serve as a climate resilience tool as well for Caribbean communities facing the realities of climate change.

Green and Sustainable Livelihoods

We help to facilitate and create opportunities for the development of green and sustainable livelihoods in communities, by bringing new knowledge and resources and helping to combine these with local needs and existing areas of interest and expertise across Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean.

Community-Led Reforestation

Our community-led reforestation initiatives are focused on restoring degraded lands and helping Caribbean countries to meet their Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) targets. Building on successes of IAMovement’s VEEP model, our education and empowerment approaches ensure that communities are involved from start to end through Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) approaches ensuring the long-term sustainability, viability and scaling of our projects and activities well into the future.

Public Education on Climate and Environment at Events and Online

IAMovement’s dedicated local teams have established us as a leading force in public education and awareness on critical social and environmental issues in Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean. Our efforts include public campaigns, events, online platforms like WEClimate, and multi-year programs. Our deep understanding of the cultural nuances surrounding these issues continues to enable us to effectively engage local populations and support meaningful communication and conversation with relevant stakeholders and the wider public in these areas.

Green and Sustainable Events

IAMovement collaborates with Close The Loop Caribbean to ‘green’ events, ensuring sustainability through waste, energy, carbon footprint, and social impact monitoring. We also design interactive events with partners, featuring activities like tree planting, vetiver grass planting, and composting to promote environmental learning and hands-on impact.

Films, Video, and Storytelling

With expertise built through the last 10-years of hosting and running environmental events, activities and projects and capturing the stories of them on video and film, IAMovement and its videography and editing teams have developed a high capacity for story telling in ways with are both highly educational as well as relational in the Trinidad & Tobago and Caribbean contexts.

Technical Project Development for Environmental Projects

IAMovement brings 10 years of diverse technical expertise in environmental project development. Our work spans key areas like community involvement, livelihood generation, climate resilience, Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA), education and awareness, multi-stakeholder participation, activism, policy development, green business, and monitoring and evaluation. This experience equips us to lead or assist in designing and implementing projects, with a deep understanding of Caribbean communities and ecosystems.
