Climate Awareness Demonstration

Every Action Counts in the Fight Against Climate Change.

Ten years ago, the world united for the Global People’s Climate March 2014, igniting a global movement to address the urgent threat of climate change. In Trinidad and Tobago, IAMovement, recognizing the pressing need for local action, joined this global effort, as 1 of the 2,646 solidarity events taking place in 162 countries around the world that weekend. To commemorate a decade of climate activism, IAMovement hosted Climate Awareness Demonstration on the 26th of September 2024.

Using creative messages and engaging visuals, volunteers highlighted the realities of climate change and emphasized the importance of individual action. Volunteers were strategically stationed at various points along the Queen’s Park Savannah, including along the Magnificent Seven, and near Jerningham Avenue, ensuring maximum visibility and engaging passersby in meaningful conversations about climate change. The event highlighted the realities of climate change and the importance of individual action. Kevan Kalapnath-Maharaj, Managing Director of IAMovement, encouraged others by saying “Do your part, no matter how small you are or how small you think you are, every little bit helps.” As a small island nation, Trinidad and Tobago is particularly vulnerable to rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and other consequences of climate change. However, every individual has the power to make a difference.
Over the past decade, IAMovement has made significant strides in raising awareness, inspiring action, and advocating for policies that protect the environment. Yet, the journey towards a sustainable future is far from over. As we move forward, we remain committed to creating positive social and environmental change, as it is important for people to develop a conscious mindset about how their actions contribute to climate change.
