Scotiabank employees commemorate United Way’s National Day of Caring with sustainable environmental initiatives.
Hundreds of Scotiabank employees engaged in various environmental initiatives at the Close the Loop Caribbean site, along with partner, IAMovement, in commemoration of United Way’s National Day of Caring (NDOC) 2024. Scotiabank employees and their families came out on Sunday, May 19 to plant trees and vetiver grass, prepare plants and seedlings for propagation and initiate composting activities.
Close The Loop Caribbean is a consortium of organizations with IAMovement being a founding partner, who came together recognizing that circular systems are the future. The Close the Loop initiative is aimed at regenerative actions in multiple key areas in our society, namely: (i) degraded lands restoration and reforestation, (ii) agriculture, and (iii) reduction of the negative impacts of poor waste management practices.
The day’s activities supported the generation of 1000-2000 fruit and hardwood or forest trees that will be planted across T&T this year for land regeneration purposes, and 50,000 vetiver plants which will also be used for land stabilization and regeneration purposes this year and in years to come …
