Nu-Iron Climate Change and Circular Economy Fair
A dynamic environmental event that combines interactive climate education, corporate social responsibility, and innovative nature-based solutions.
The IAMovement and Nu-Iron Unlimited partnership marked a significant milestone in corporate environmental stewardship. This initiative laid the groundwork for long-term sustainability through strategic education, waste-to-value demonstrations, and onsite environmental installations. Hosted on December 10, 2025, at the Nu-Iron Unlimited plant compound in Pt Lisas, the collaboration served as a high-impact platform to drive internal knowledge and promote the value of a circular economy within the private sector. By merging technical expertise with corporate engagement, this initiative has set a new provincial standard for climate adaptation in the industrial sector, proving that nature-based solutions (NbS) and circular economies are effective tools for protecting our physical landscape while empowering the workforce to lead a more resilient future.
The Climate Change & Circular Economy Fair focused on unveiling the potential of local circular economy models and NbS to address Trinidad and Tobago’s environmental challenges. The event engaged Nu-Iron members in hands-on learning while showcasing how local organizations capture organic waste and transform it into nutrient-rich topsoil for land regeneration. Through the participation of ten local sustainability leaders, including Close the Loop Caribbean, Microbes Alive, Happy Planet Organic Farms, Hello Green, Flying Tree Environmental, Glastic Designs, Vetiver TT, The House of Vetiver, Terrarium Crew, and IAMovement, the fair highlighted practical alternatives to traditional waste. These organizations demonstrated everything from 100% compostable packaging to recycled plastic furniture and civil engineering solutions using the Vetiver System (VS).
The IAMovement Climate Talks extended the impact of the fair, empowering Nu-Iron members through interactive sessions covering climate change adaptation and the tangible opportunities within local circular models. The success of these sessions was rooted in making global environmental issues locally relevant, equipping staff with the knowledge to become advocates for sustainability within their own communities. The project’s impact was made immediate and visible through the installation of two upcycled plastic benches at the Nu-Iron facility provided by Flying Tree Environmental Management. Created from an estimated 20,000 waste plastic bottles, these benches represent a permanent commitment to diverting waste from overburdened landfills and transforming it into durable assets. Building on these efforts, the collaboration created long-term benefits by promoting a sustainable model for private-sector engagement that supports ecosystem restoration and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
