WEClimate App
The WEClimate platform and app, developed by IAMovement, aim to empower individuals in Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, and Suriname to actively engage in climate action at a local level.
The platform serves as a hub where users can connect, learn, and collaborate on climate initiatives. With a focus on community-driven climate solutions, it supports users in identifying and addressing environmental challenges like land degradation and erosion, often through sustainable techniques such as Vetiver grass planting. The app also facilitates climate education, providing resources on local issues and offering tools to foster climate resilience among citizens.
WEClimate’s platform was initially developed as part of a broader “Advancing Climate Democracy” project across Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad & Tobago which was funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund, in collaboration with regional partners. This project entailed educational workshops, youth engagement, and climate policy advocacy, all designed to increase public involvement in climate-related decisions. Through the WEClimate platform, users can participate in discussions about policies, register environmentally sensitive sites, and stay updated on climate initiatives in their regions, fostering a more climate-conscious and active community.
